In order to assist in the recovery from many conditions, it is important to both stretch and to strengthen the spine and other supporting tissues.

“If you don’t use it you lose it”

Exercises are vital to restore and maintain the proper functioning of the body.  Exercising helps chiropractic treatment to be more effective and for the results to last longer.  If you don’t use it, you lose it … and it is much more difficult to get back again.

Stretching gains and maintains flexibility.  Without flexibility, joints reach the end of their range of movement sooner, and are more at risk of injury.

Core Stability

Especially important in terms of strength is core stability.  This refers to the core muscles that should be working all the time to support the skeleton and hold your body upright and in a good posture.  Sadly these muscles are often very weak, particularly after an episode of back pain.

In the pages that follow, there are a selection of some of the most helpful exercises.  Ask your chiropractor which exercises are best for you.
